March 2018 Event - March Luncheon: Ready, Fire, Aim!
Wednesday, Marcy 7, 2018
Brio Tuscan Grille in Annapolis Towne Center
Speaker: Charlie Heller, author of Ready, Fire, Aim! An Immigrant's Tales of Entreprenerial Terror.
When the FBI attempts to shut down his software company on a trumped-up charge, memories of World War II and the Gestapo fill Charlie Heller with terror and uncertainty. Under the best conditions, being an entrepreneur is charged with anxiety and trepidation. Throw in challenging circumstances, and trepidation turns to downright terror. Heller arrived in the US a penniless 13-year-old who spoke two words of English. Exhibiting strength, persistence, and determination, he earned three degrees in engineering and, while working at the cutting edge of computer technology, was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. Over many years as co-founder and CEO of high-tech companies, and mentor to, and investor in, hundreds of startups, he experienced the joys, successes, failures, and terrors of starting and building new ventures. Entrepreneurs throughout the world have found his story inspiring and have profited from the lessons he learned along the way and conveys to his audiences.
